Company Profile Wear Strategies is a San Diego based land use and transportation consulting firm that has worked strategically on a wide variety of land use projects including residential construction, commercial development, ports, renewable energy, transportation and has provided business development services for private companies. Byron Wear, Wear Strategies principal, is uniquely qualified to lead and manage a wide range of complex land use, energy and transportation projects including interface with government agencies at a federal, state and regional level. As a Councilmember and San Diego Deputy Mayor, Wear was the visionary driving force behind major efforts to promote economic development and revitalize downtown over the past decade. He has a proven track record working successfully with numerous government agencies and managing complex public policy programs. Byron Wear was a consistent supporter of the blighted East Village as the site for PETCO Park and led the efforts to revitalize the East Village with a unique private public partnership. Wear was a strong advocate to transform downtown including the
Convention Center expansion, the North Embarcadero Visionary
Alliance, the renovation of the Balboa Theatre, planning of the
Smart Corner, funding the new Children’s Museum, and public
improvements for the Gaslamp District and Little Italy. He was
instrumental in obtaining City Council support for establishing
the Downtown Parking Meter District which assured 45% of parking
revenue to construct parking facilities. Byron Wear has a long
history of bringing together community stakeholders which led to
the approval of the Downtown Partnership’s Clean and Safe
Program, the establishment of the Cortez Hill Family Center and
the citizen efforts to update the Centre City Community Plan. |
